Reusable Makeup Pads

I have been using reusable makeup pads for some time now and I absolutely love them. I store them in a glass container in the bathroom, use a eco friendly eye-makeup remover, pour a little on to the centre of the usable makeup pad and then wipe off my mascara.

Reusable Makeup Pads made with 100% organic cotton

I have another glass container to store used eye-makeup pads and then just throw them into the washer with colored cloths. I even tumble dry them and they turn out fine, before I return them to the glass container again. The perfect little reuse-reduce-recycle system on my way to become a little bit more environmental friendly.

I even have a bag in my purse for the emergency patch-ups!

What yarn do I use?

I use 100% organic cotton and have been using Debbie Bliss eco baby yarn which is super soft GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified yarn. Global Organic Textile Standard ensures the yarn is farmed and harvested in an organic manner and the manufacturing process is environmental and socially responsible from farming to labelling.

This yarn also has been tested for over 100 chemicals that can be harmful for the human health.

These two certifications give me the confidence that the product that I make is being harvested and manufactured with the wellbeing of us the users at heart.

This is super important to me as I want my makeup cleaning procedure to leave as little mark on the environment as possible.

So, how do I cleaning the makeup pads?

I have gotten very positive feedback on these reusable makeup pads, but also questions about how to clean them after use.....

So I decided to show you!

The picture below shows a used eye-pad next to a brand new one. Its obliviously way darker as it contains the eye makeup and the cleaning solution. Pretty obvious which one is which!

I usually just throw it into the washing machine with warm wash batch and then into the dryer with my wash. A bit brutal, but it looks as new!

As expected it shrinks a little bit in the first wash as this is made with 100% cotton, but the yarn still feels soft when I take off my makeup. Even after months of using them.

So cleaning is easy peasy!

No excuse not to look for alternative solutions for our every day use of plastics and non environmental friendly products in our daily lives.

I truly hope you consider exchanging one-time-use items to reusable items. Just choose one thing and try! Big changes start with a step, which then hopefully will lead to another step and another until we have reach our purpose as the leading race in the Universe with a healthy planet.

It's the perfect gift!

These are the perfect gift for anyone that uses makeup and wants an environmental friendly alternative to the traditional white cotton pads/balls. I have few in my Etsy store for you to try and as an added bonus it includes the pattern if you would like to have a go for yourself! Just remember to buy environmental friendly yarn.

You can even put several of these pads in a beautiful glass jar, buy an environmental eye makeup remover and wrap into a fabric handmade wash-bag.

Well that's the ultimate environmental friendly gift that gives the right signal!

Win-Win for us and the planet.
